Oscars Round Up

Posted by Brad On March - 8 - 2010

The Oscar Awards were held on March 7, 2010, a rescheduled date which was a result of avoiding a clash with the Winter Olympics. Hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin lit up the grand evening, and this was the first show since 1987 to have multiple hosts.

James Cameron’s “Avatar” overwhelmingly won the battle of the box-office and picked up a trio of Oscars along the way. But it was “The Hurt Locker,” the relatively tiny film directed by his ex-wife, Kathryn Bigelow, that was the big winner Sunday night. Bigelow’s film led with six Oscars, including the best-picture prize. It made history as well, as Bigelow became the first woman to win for directing. As for the ceremony itself: Co-hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin got it off to a rollicking start, though they disappeared for long, long stretches. Let’s hope they’re invited back.
