The Apple iPhone 4 Review: First Look at the New iPhone

Posted by Sam On June - 8 - 2010

Steve Jobs boldly claims his new gadget will “change everything–all over again.” So will it?

Although they have mixed feelings about the phone’s glass exterior, reviewers have thus far heaped praise on Apple’s “totally new animal,” which has been called “so thin it’s kind of mind-boggling,” “elegant,” and even “sexy.”

The iPhone 4 won’t hit stores until June 24th–and we can expect a slew of new reviews then–but in the meantime, here’s an early look at what techies are saying about Apple’s new iPhone.

Jobs said that the looks of the iPhone resembles in some way that which had been leaked through Gizmodo but is not totally similar to that one.

He said that the new iPhone revealed today at WWDC 2010 will contain 8 new features. The main feature will be its brand new design with lots of additional capabilities including a LED flash and camera on the back plus a camera in front. It also has a fully integrated music system and antenna system putting together Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/GSM/UMTS.

The new iPhone 4G, Steve Jobs says at the Apple Conference 2010 will have the new “retina display” capability which improves the iPhones display quality 4x. The new rendition will be at 326 pixels per inch.

The Apple iPhone 4G will contain the Apple A4 chip which is quite small but is very powerful. It will now support 7 hours of talk time, 6 hours of 3G, 10 hours of WiFi, 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music and 300 hours of standby power. Wow that is indeed awesome!

Apples iPhone 4 being presented at the Apple Conference 2010 will now have a “Gyroscope” supporting a 6-axis motion sensoring and dual mic for gamers out there. The camera of the iPhone 4 will be a 5-Megapixel camera with backside illuminated sensor. This will give the camera the ability to record 720p HD videos at 30fps plus you can share videos through iMovie.

The iPhone 4G will run under iOS 4.0 which will have 100 new user features. These features will include folders, Multitasking, and other things which iPhone users have not seen before. IPhone 4G will feature threaded messages, the same way you see in Gmail. It will also add a new search engine called Bing while keeping Google as its default.

Now this is exciting, with iPhone 4, iBooks will now be available. The iBooks for IPhone 4 will have same controls, same highlighting, same bookmarking, and other features like hte iPad. What’s more exciting is the fact that downloading an e-book and sharing through your iPhone iPad and iPod will be at no extra charge since it will automatically sync with each other.

The last feature added to the new iPhone 4G is called iAds. iAds is built to help developers earn money so that they can continue to create free and low-cost apps. iAds had been selling for the past eight weeks and companies who had committed includes Nissan, Unilever, AT&T, Chanel, GE, Liberty Mutual, State Farm Insurance, Geico, Cmabell’s, Sears, JCPenney, Target, Best Buy, DirecTV, TBS, Disney.
