Obama Combs Beach With Republican-turned-independent Florida Governor Crist: Checks Out Woman’s Ass

Here’s fodder to get political pundits’ tongues wagging: President Obama is getting some face time this morning with Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. Sure, the president spent time with the governors of all the Gulf states he’s visited on his two-day inspection of the oil spill. But Crist is running for Senate. As an independent.

Up until April, Crist was a Republican and the favorite of many party leaders to win the Senate seat. He abandoned his party’s primary — and his party — to make an independent bid after former state House speaker Marco Rubio shot ahead in the polls. One of the images Rubio used to torpedo Crist’s cred with GOP conservatives: an embrace the governor got last year from Obama.

And of course there’s already plenty of speculation about which Senate caucus Crist would join were he to be elected.

Crist was leading Rubio and two Democratic contenders for the Senate seat in a Quinnipiac poll earlier this month. USA TODAY’s Susan Page has an update on the Florida race in today’s newspaper.

Crist and Obama inspected Pensacola’s beachfront this morning before the president delivered remarks to military personnel at the city’s naval base. Reporters traveling with the president reported that he was greeted by residents holding both supportive and critical signs: “Thanks for your support,” read one. “Enough photo ops,” said another.

And of course they checked out the scenery while they were there.
