Bristol Palin’s baby daddy is taking the high road. After months of blasting former GOP Vice-Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin and her brooding family to any reporter with a microphone and a checkbook, young dad Levi Johnston has issued a public apology to his almost in-laws.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Johnston wrote: “Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true. I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize.”
Johnston — the high school sweetheart of teen pregnancy prevention spokeswoman Bristol Palin — is the father of Sarah Palin’s grandson, Tripp, age 1.
Following his split with Bristol three months after Tripp’s birth in Dec. 2008, Johnston lashed out at Sarah, accusing the best-selling author of badmouthing her job as Alaska governor in private and alleging that she and Todd Palin were on the path to divorce. He went on to pose for Playgirl Magazine and threatened to go public with more dirt that “could hurt” the grandmother of his child.
