This afternoon, the Malibu Sheriff’s Department confirmed that it has opened a domestic violence investigation into an alleged incident involving disgraced Oscar winner Mel Gibson & his former girlfriend, Oskana Grigorieva.
The police probe stems from accusations that Mel struck Oskana in the face with a closed fist as she cradled the couple’s infant daughter, Lucia, during an argument last Jan. 6, The Insider said Thursday. Several of the singer’s teeth were reportedly shattered in the melee.
News of the investigation comes just 24 hours after a report surfaced insisting that Oskana has an audio tape in which Mel openly admits to the violence before savagely spitting that she “deserved it.”
According to RadarOnline.com, Oksana, 40, can be heard on the recording asking the father of eight: “What kind of a man is that who would hit a woman when she is holding a child in her hands, hitting her twice in the face? What kind of a man is that?”
To which Mel replied: “You know what, you fucking deserved it.”
Oksana — who is in the middle of a custody/child support battle with Mel — claims that the 54-year-old actor has been violent with her many times over the course of their four year union, with the worst incidents of abuse taking place between Jan. and Feb. 2010.
“An investigation of domestic violence was launched by [Los Angeles Sheriff's] Malibu/Lost Hills station detectives … involving actor Mel Gibson and his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva,” read a statement released Thursday. “The detective in charge of the investigation is currently gathering information regarding the allegations. Due to the investigation being preliminary in nature, no other information is available at this time.”
