Court Awards Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Damages Over Bogus Tabloid Story
Hollywood Golden Couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have accepted an unspecified sum in damages against UK tabloid News of the World over false allegations that they were separating.
The suit stemmed from a Jan. 2010 article, which stated that the couple had visited divorce lawyers in December 2009 to begin thrasing out a divorce deal and arrange custody and visitation rights for their six children.
Although the couple’s attorneys notified News of the World publishers that their information was false, the tabloid followed up with another article, this one titled “Brange Leak War,” that reported the earlier allegations and stated the couple had argued about who had leaked details of their break up tp the press.
Brad and Angie then requested the newspaper publish an apology and retraction. When it failed to do so the couple issued legal proceedings.
The couple intends to donate the cash to their Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
