Lady Gaga Launches “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Policy Repeal Campaign

Posted by Brad On September - 14 - 2010

Pop star Lady Gaga has joined the effort to overturn the government’s controversial policy on gays in the Armed Forces.

On Monday, the “Poker Face” star turned her website – LadyGaga.com, mind you — into a billboard for the repeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.” The site now features a splash page asking fans to “Join Lady Gaga in repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” the policy banning gays from serving openly in the military, and redirects users to the website for the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, which provides legal services to gay service members.

The flamboyant pop singer — an outspoken gay rights advocate — arrived on the white carpet on the MTV Video Music Awards with four former servicemen and women who were discharged from the military for being gay.

“I’m here for a very, very important cause tonight,” Gaga told MTV News’ Sway. “These are all my friends and they are with SLDN.org, which is an organization that was founded in 1993 under the reaction to the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policies. Their stories are very inspiring and there’s so much we can do right now.” she added.

“No one person is more valuable than another person,”
