Just months after Star.com revealed that Courteney Cox was getting cozy with her Cougar Town costar comes word that she and husband David Arquette have separated after 11 years of marriage.
“We have agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time. The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage,” the couple said in a statement. “We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply.”
BR> They added, “As we go though this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together. We are comfortable with the boundaries that we have established for each other during this separation and we hope that our friends, family, fans and the media also show us respect, dignity, understanding and love at this time as well.”
David and Courteney have openly admitted to having their ups and downs in the past and have even tried marriage therapy. Courteney once explained, “In any relationship, there are times that you’re disconnected. You can see how relationships end if you don’t work through it.”
In Star‘s May 17 issue, we broke the news that Courtney and her Cougar Town costar Brian Van Holt had been spotted out together four times in less than four weeks after their sitcom wrapped for summer hiatus.
An eyewitness at Coral Beach Cantina saw Courtney and Brian drinking beer and having chips and salsa in the back of the outdoor patio together. “They looked like they were holding hands at the side of their table!” Things got even more intimate when the two parted ways after dinner and Brian gave Courteney what appeared to be a kiss goodbye, says the eyewitness.
Courtney and David have been married for 11 years and have one daughter together, Coco, 6.
