A book was thrown in the direction of President Barack Obama as he was waving to the crowd Sunday after a campaign rally in Philadelphia. The book flew behind the President and didn’t hit him.

In an unwise self-publicity move, an unidentified author threw his new paperback book at President Barack Obama during a political rally in Philadelphia.  The incident happened at Philadelphia’s Vernon Park where Obama spoke over the weekend.

After questioning the book-thrower, the man convinced the Secret Service that he is a staunch Obama supporter and wanted the President to have a copy of his book.  The man was released without the publicity he sought.  Neither his name nor the name of his book has been made available to the press.

Had the thrower been a better shot – he missed the President with his hurling of the book – he probably would have gotten his name out in the press anyway.  But, as they say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity in such circumstances.

How long before he and his book end up on Oprah?  He’ll get the publicity he seeks eventually.
