Well it’s about time.
After rumors have been swirling for months , Bret Michaels finally popped the question to his on-again-off-again girlfriend of 16 years, Kristi Gibson, on Monday night’s finale of his VH1 reality show, ‘Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.’ The Poison rocker got down on his knee, and asked Gibson to be his wife. “Please say yes or the rejection will kill me right now,” he pleaded. Of course, she said yes.
Back in July, sources told Star Magazine that Michaels proposed after the Fourth of July holiday weekend while the pair were at his ranch near Scottsdale, Arizona. But Michaels denied the reports.
Although Gibson has been spotted with serious bling on her finger, Michaels called it “a promise ring … a friendship ring, with benefits. That’s what we call it,” Michaels said during a CBS Early Show interview in July. “We’re a work in progress.”
“Bret felt like now was the time because Kristi has been through so much with Bret and has been by his side every step of the way,” a friend of the couple told Star. The friend said Michaels has changed since his brain hemorrhage earlier this year.
The couple has two daughters together: Raine Elizabeth, 10, and Jorja Bleu, 5.
