Billboards For Black Gay Men Attacked

Posted by Darby On January - 19 - 2011

A billboard campaign in Schenectady, N.Y., designed to combat the stigma of being gay in the African American community, has come under fire by one of the city councilman.  The billboard shows black men on a basketball court or at church and boldly displays the phrase “I Am Gay.”  Joseph Allen, the city councilman attacking the billboard, says he does so because it sends the wrong message to children.  The good news is the billboard ad is protected by the First Amendment and cannot be removed.
