Taco Bell Gets Sued

Posted by Darby On January - 25 - 2011

Taco Bell is being sued by Beasley Allen, a Montgomery AL based law firm.  The law suit calls into question whether the fast food chain’s beef is really beef.  According to the USDA beef is defined as “flesh of animals.”  However, in Taco Bell’s “Food Facts” section on their website the meat is described as “taco meat” and described as being USDA-inspected beef.  Beasley Allen is saying the “taco meat filling” is made up of only 36 percent beef.  The USDA says it has to be at least 40 percent to be considered meat.  The fuss does seem to be over semantics, but there should always be truth in advertising.  I wonder how legitimate the lawsuit is, and who is going to get paid if it succeeds.

  2. …It only has to be 40% animal flesh to be considered beef? That is pretty horrifying. This makes me happy I don’t eat fast food.
