Who would have thought shock jock Howard Stern would have a soft side? He is making a conscious effort to stop saying “faggot” when referring to gay people. Stern’s reasoning for avoiding this “F-bomb” is gay people are often bullied and abused according to his statement “I have a tremendous compassion for people that are homosexual. I feel that they are bullied and abused in our society. They take such shit just because they like to be with the same sex, and it’s so absurd to me.’ ‘It must be a terrible thing to be exposed to that kind of hatred and be hated just because of your sexuality.” When famous shock jocks like Howard Stern are trying to be more politically correct one has to wonder what the world is coming to. I do not know if it is because he is getting older, if he is afraid of offending the wrong people, or if he is trying to make a late bid to get into heaven, but Howard you need to be the shock jock we all know and love. Grow a pair!!! This is a total turnaround from who you have portrayed yourself to be.

I’ve been listening to Howard on and off since 1982 when he was on AM radio in NY, and this doesn’t surprise me at all. For one thing, it isn’t new. He’s never used the f-word as far as I recall, or frankly any perjorative term toward any minority either. I think the only one surprised by this have never really listened to him at all. He’s always had a soft spot for those he considers victimized. He grew up the only white kid in an all-black Long Island neighborhood, which may have something to do with it. His “shock jock” label is actually somewhat misplaced if you’ve really listened. Just my thoughts.
