‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 12 Cast Revealed

Posted by Brad On March - 1 - 2011

Last season was about politics, with Bristol Palin as the shimmying lightning-rod. With last night’s announcement that Kirstie Alley is joining ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” (she had been asked previously and declined), season 12 is likely to be about one thing: weight.

You can’t fault the media or the public for focusing on Alley’s weight; she’s the one who’s obsessed with it. Alley’s actually made a career of it, achieving notoriety as a failed Jenny Craig spokeswoman and starring in Showtime’s “Fat Actress” (2005) and A&E’s “Kirstie Alley’s Big Life” (2010). How will Alley do? Since she’s got diet products to hawk, bet on her to take full advantage of the dance workouts. After all, there are no sequined muu-muus in the ballroom.

The other contestants:† Mike Catherwood aka “Psycho Mike,” a former addict who’s now the co-host of “Loveline.”

Chris Jericho, wrestler, heavy-metal singer and sometime actor (“MacGruber”); arch-enemy of Mickey Rourke.

Chelsea Kane, Disney starlet best known as the boys’ stylist in “Jonas L.A.”

Sugar Ray Leonard, boxing superstar and godfather of Khloe Kardashian.

Ralph Macchio, ageless ’80s dreamboat who played Hilda’s boyfriend on “Ugly Betty.”

Petra Nemcova, Czech Sports Illustrated swimsuit model who lost her photographer fiance in the Thailand tsunami of 2004.

Romeo, hip-hop artist who’s trying to drop the “Lil’.” He also earned a basketball scholarship to USC.

Hines Ward, wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers and an advocate for mixed-race children in South Korea.

Kendra Wilkinson, the Playboy bunny next door. Watch for the world’s cutest baby in the audience with hubby Hank Baskett.

Wendy Williams, shock jock turned outrageous talk-show host. She was denounced by Tupac Shakur in song.
