Last week Justin Alensa, a 23 year old Detroit man, was mercilessly attacked at a convince store while buying a pack of cigarettes. According to Alensa he was assaulted by another customer who kept calling him a fagot and homo. He was hit in the eye twice.
Being attacked because someone thinks you are gay is bad enough. What is even worse is everyone standing around Alensa just watched this hate crime happen nor did any of them come to his aid once the beating was over. The store clerk also told Alensa he had to leave treating him like he was at fault for the fight. What kind of people just stand around and watch an innocent man get beat and don’t offer to help him after the fact? These people are idiots and cowards!
Alensa has not let this incident quench his warrior spirit. He has posted a video on YouTube and Facebook sharing his story and bring awareness to hate crimes toward gay people. His courage is truly outstanding. I consider him to be a hero.
