Planned Parenthood does not use federal funds to provide abortions. Planned Parenthood does not use federal funds to provide abortions. Planned Parenthood does not use federal funds to provide abortions.
There, now that we have that all cleared up let’s get on with the real issue here. Republican and House Speaker John Boehner and Indiana Rep. Mike Pence have proposed stripping 75 million dollars from Planned Parenthood under the guise of budgeting and helping the United States economy. I believe the 19 Senators in support of Biden (who is fighting to preserve federal funding) stated my own opinion of this beautifully.
- “This ideological agenda cloaked in a budget document isn’t even good fiscal policy….As a matter of creating jobs and bolstering the economy, this rider would have the opposite effect: not only will health centers be forced to close but many uninsured women and their families also may go without care, become more ill, and be kept away from their jobs, it would instead effectively shut down health centers that serve three million women each year and provide nearly one million lifesaving screenings for cervical cancer, more than 830,000 breast exams and nearly four million tests and treatments for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV,”
I am lucky enough to have health insurance, and a job, so I don’t personally use Planned Parenthood. I have also been on hormonal birth control since I was 14. Not because I couldn’t keep my hands off the neighborhood boys, but because I get non-functioning ovarian cysts that are not only excruciatingly painful, but could twist my ovaries, killing them in a particularly brutal fashion. And I get these cysts every month when not on birth control. I have undergone four surgeries to remove large cysts that were a threat when I was unlucky enough be on a birth control that stopped working for me. But someday I will be without insurance. And I will have rely on Planned Parenthood for my Medical situation.
How dare anyone try and deny me the right to medical treatment. And how dare anyone try and deny millions of women pap smears, STD treatment, breast exams, and other life saving diagnostics and treatments. Someone will go undiagnosed, and someone will go untreated, and someone will die if funding is cut for these medical services. And how dare anyone try and call that stance pro-life when the federal funding they cut does not go to single abortion anyway.
