A cell phone video showing a police officer spraying a baby squirrel with pepper spray has sparked outrage after it was recently posted on YouTube.

The video was recorded by a student at Kimbrough Middle School in Mesquite, Texas, according to Fox 5 New York. In it, students are heard pleading for the officer to stop, shouting things like “Don’t spray him!”

After a rally of cries as the officer uses the pepper spray on the squirrel, the animal is seen writhing around on the ground.

Mesquite Police Department has defended the officer’s actions.Sgt. Wes Talley said the officer stood between a group of students and the animal because he thought it may have been rabid.

Talley said after several unsuccessful attempts to scare the squirrel away, the officer used his pepper spray on it to protect the welfare of the students.

Following the incident, animal control officers reportedly cared for the squirrel at a shelter before releasing it back into the wild.

In the second quarter, the Lakers reserve stole the ball from Hornets guard Jarrett Jack and started a fast break. He jumped up and as he sailed through the air, Brown switched the ball from his right hand to his left and slammed it in.

Brown reportedly said he had done the same dunk in the 2010 contest, but it wasn’t as “flashy.”

“I give it a 10, no question. It was just ridiculous,” Bryant said after the game. “His explosiveness is out of this world. I don’t know if I could do that.”

Late in the fourth quarter of Orlando’s game against Dallas on Tuesday night, Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu had an opportunity to cut the Mavericks lead to four. Turkoglu, who was traded to Orlando from Phoenix over the weekend, received a pass on a fast break and tried to dunk it. Unfortunately, Turkoglu was blocked by the rim and the Mavericks recovered the defensive rebound. The 31-year-old argued for a foul but didn’t get the call. Dallas went on to win 105-99.
